Extraction of wisdom tooth is required or not???? Wisdom tooth is third molar tooth in our mouth, appearing the last. It usually appear between the ages of 17-22. If they develop in proper position and does not harm the surrounding tissue, it can be left in the mouth but if it causes pain, repeated infection of soft tissue behind the tooth (pericoronitis), cyst formation around 3rd molar, then it has to be removed since antibiotics and pain killers can provide only a short term relief.
